Message from the President

2018 Season

Welcome to Lake Country Ladies Orthodox Softball 2018 season! This is my first year as President of the league, and I am very excited to work with all of you this year. I have been playing in this league since 2013, 6 months after my first child was born. Playing in this league was an excellent way for me to experience softball in a whole new way. I had previously played 3 years of fast-pitch, and an occasional game of slow-pitch and I had never heard of orthodox softball before. This league is extremely family oriented, allowing flexibility to bring your children to the games to play at the park, and I have been very impressed with the sense of community I feel at Jack Seaton Park. I have witnessed parents checking on other children, strangers buying my children a freezie, friendships being made, and a lot of laughs to be had.

We are a semi-competitive league, meaning we do takes the games seriously and try hard. We steal bases, get scraped knees, and push ourselves. However, we have a lot more fun, laugh at our mistakes, and accept everyone.

In 2011 we had 9 teams playing in this league, and this year we are down to 6. My goal as President is to improve our recruitment, and expand our league to what it once was.

On a side note, I am a Registered Nurse with a specialty background in mental health. My passions include positive psychology and mental wellbeing. I teach nursing students about the benefits of positive social support, exercise, fresh air and community—which I think this league can offer.
